Vikings Beyond Boundaries: Migration and Diaspora in the Viking Age and After

The Scandinavian Studies Research Seminar Series continues on Tuesday 2 February at 5.15pm with a talk by Professor Judith Jesch from the University of Nottingham.

In her talk, she will detail the overseas expansion of Scandinavians during the Viking Age, which has in the past been figured as raiding, settlement or even colonisation. More recently, theories of migration and diaspora have been applied to understanding this phenomenon. Judith will explore the applicability of these theories both generally and as illustrated through a number of case studies. We’re excited to be organising this seminar in conjunction with the Edinburgh Seminar in Medieval and Renaissance Studies.

Please note that the day, time and venue differ from our usual seminars.

Join us in the Meadows Lecture Theatre in the Old Medical School (4 Teviot Place, Edinburgh) at 5.15 pm on Tuesday 2 February.
