11th November 2021 | Categories: Anniversary Meeting, Event

WELCOME

The Society will be hosting its first ever hybrid Anniversary Meeting on St Andrew’s Day Tuesday 30th November 2021 at 12noon GMT.

The event will be in person at the Augustine United Church, 41 George IV Bridge, Edinburgh EH1 1EL and online as a Zoom meeting.

It will start at the earlier time of 12noon GMT, with a short lecture and then reception and buffet lunch at the end as usual.  To register for the Anniversary Meeting please follow the instructions below. Numbers are restricted to 85 people in person, so book early to avoid disappointment.

As per the previous year all ballots for Fellows with email addresses will be online with a deadline of 12 noon GMT Monday 29th November 2021, in advance of the meeting itself; closing with enough time to allow the votes to be independently examined and verified and the results tallied.  The ballots are open now and you can access them using the links below.  Only Fellows can vote in these elections, and once you have voted for each item your ballot will be closed and you will be unable to reconsider, so please take your time to read the instructions.

VOTING

Voting for new Fellows
Use the link in the agenda or here: https://www.socantscot.org/fellows/fellowship-election-nov-2021/ to vote new Fellows to the Society.

Please follow the instructions on the page, once you have pressed the Submit Vote button at the very bottom of the page you will not be able to change your vote.

There are a large number of candidates for Fellowship so we have enabled the FOR vote for all candidates in this election to make voting easier.

Voting for Office Bearers and Council Members
Use the link in the agenda or here: https://www.socantscot.org/fellows/election-of-council-members-nov-2021 to vote Trustees to the Society.

Please follow the instructions on the page, once you have pressed the Submit Vote button on the page you will not be able to change your vote.

There are five places available as Councillors in addition to the Treasurer post and eleven candidates. This is therefore a contested election. Votes ‘For’ and ‘Against’ will initially be tallied, with the scrutineers required to reject any candidate with a majority of votes cast ‘Against’ (but excluding abstentions). In Stage 2, numbers of ‘For’ votes will be tallied. The five candidates with most ‘For’ votes will be elected as Trustees. In the event of a tie for places the number of ‘Against’ votes for those candidates will be tallied, and the candidate with fewest ‘Against’ votes brought forward for election. Should this process result in a continued tie a vote in the room will be taken with a simple majority of votes cast there required.

For all voting there is the option to abstain.
