Lecture given by Dr Anita Quye, Senior Lecturer, Conservation Science, History of Art, University of Glasgow.

Many perspectives on the often colourful world of historical textiles are gained through scientific and historical research of material culture evidence in heritage collections. The particularly rich legacies of Scotland’s textile-producing past in museums and archives have led the University of Glasgow to investigate the significance and preservation needs of this fascinating material culture. Presented in this talk are research projects for Turkey red textiles and 19th century early synthetic dyes research, and the interdisciplinary ReINVENT and ReCREATE knowledge exchange and research networks.
