This year’s summer excursion is to two important heritage sites of historic and educational interest in Perthshire. Complete with expert guided tours in the morning and afternoon, lunch and coach transportation for the whole day trip, leaving and returning the Chambers Street, Edinburgh.
In the morning we will visit Innerpeffray Library, Scotland’s first free public lending library founded in 1680 which holds rare books in its diverse collection.
In the afternoon we will visit the Scottish Crannog Centre’s new museum and learn about the first Crannogs in Scotland, those built ~2,500 years ago.
(Please note the timings are approximate and may change on the day depending on road conditions and traffic between Edinburgh and the two sites in Perthshire)
8.15am: Coach and participants arrive and meet on Chambers Street, Edinburgh (EH1 1JF)
8.30am: Coach leaves Chambers Street, Edinburgh
10am: Arrive at Innerpeffray Library (PH7 3RF)
10am-12noon: Guided tour of the library
12noon: Coach leaves Innerpeffray Library
12.30/12.45: Coach arrives at the new Scottish Crannog Centre (PH15 2NX)
12.30/12.45-1.30/1.45pm: Lunch at the Scottish Crannog Centre
2pm-4pm: Guided tour of the Scottish Crannog Centre
4pm: Coach leaves the Scottish Crannog Centre and drives back to Edinburgh
5.30pm: Coach arrives back at Chambers Street, Edinburgh (EH1 1JF)
Ticket prices:
Fellows: £60
Non-Fellows: £75
Tickets include: Return coach transport, guided tours, and lunch, tea and coffee.
