Subscription Categories and Rates

The membership year runs from 1 July to 30 June, with subscription payments due on 1 July.

The following annual subscription rates were agreed by Fellows at the Anniversary Meeting on 30 Nov. 2022 and are applicable from 1 July 2023.

Ordinary with hardcopy PSAS – £100 per annum.  Receive full Fellowship benefits.

Ordinary with digital PSAS – £90 per annum.  Receive full Fellowship benefits.

Over 65 with hardcopy PSAS  – £78 per annum.  Receive full Fellowship benefits.

Over 65 with digital PSAS  – £68 per annum.  Receive full Fellowship benefits.

Early Career – £45 per annum.
For those who are i) aged under 31 at their election, or ii) have graduated within the preceding 5 years at their election. For clarity, those moving to Early Career Fellowship from another type (for example Student Fellowship) are eligible for this membership for 5 years after their graduation date (on reaching 31 years old or 5 years after graduation such persons will no longer be eligible for this subscription and move to another membership type). Receive digital-only versions of the PSAS and Newsletters, and otherwise entitled to full Fellowship benefits.

Under 26/Student/Unemployed – £25 per annum.
For Fellows who are either under the age of 26 at their election, full-time matriculated students or unemployed (on either reaching 26 years old, graduating or becoming employed such persons will no longer be eligible for this subscription and move to another membership type). Receive digital-only versions of the PSAS and Newsletters, and otherwise entitled to full Fellowship benefits.

Family Fellow – £45 per annum.
For Fellows who normally reside at the same address as a Fellow paying Ordinary or Over 65 subscription rate. Receive digital only versions of the PSAS and Newsletters, otherwise receive full Fellowship benefits.

There is no additional joining fee.

BACS – If you prefer to pay by BACS please contact Jan Paterson who will provide relevant details.

Direct Debit – Fellows with UK bank account can pay their annual subscription by Direct Debit. The Direct Debit Instruction Form can be found here to download, complete and return to the Society, addressing the envelope to: Jan Paterson, Finance, Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, National Museums Scotland, Chambers Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1JF.

N.B. Direct debits will automatically update. However, Fellows paying by Standing Order will need to contact their bank to amend.

Online – Using your credit card or by PayPal to pay subscription via the Fellows area of the Society website.

Overseas Fellows are advised to pay by credit card or via the website – we do take foreign cheques, but this is becoming increasingly expensive.
