How to Apply

New applicants for Society Fellowship are put forward for election in late April or late November.

To be eligible for election your application needs the support of two current Fellows who can confirm your interest in and commitment to the study and understanding of Scotland’s past.

You can find a list of our current Fellows here.

If you do not know any Fellows please email the Society at fellowship@socantscot.org.

Your application will be treated in confidence and, if accepted, offered for election by the Fellowship.

Closing dates for application submissions are two months prior to election. The 28th of February is the closing date for applications to be considered in the late April election, and 30th of September is the closing date for applications to be considered in the late November election.

If you would like to be considered for election to the Society, please apply online via the application portal.

Alternatively, you can download and complete the Fellowship Application Form and send it via email to fellowship@socantscot.org.

Please use the editable PDF application form if the online application portal doesn’t appear to work.

Please note that subscriptions are not due until you are elected. No money should be sent with the application form.

Following election to the Society, new Fellows will be contacted with full Fellowship information and payment details.

Please note that by becoming a Fellow you are agreeing to the Society’s data protection policy.

N.B. When an application has been submitted successfully via the online portal, applicants typically receive a confirmation email within a day or two.

If you have not received acknowledgement within a few days of applying, please get in touch.
