How to Apply

New applicants for Society Fellowship are put forward for election once a year at our Anniversary Meeting on Saint Andrew’s Day, 30th of November. The closing date for applications is the 1st of September.

To be eligible for election you will need two existing Fellows who can confirm your commitment to the study and understanding of Scotland’s past.

If you do not know any existing Fellows please contact well in advance of the September deadline. We can accept references from people in a position to know of, and appreciate, your interest in history and archaeology, provided that they tell us something about themselves and their experience.

You can apply online, or download the editable pdf Fellowship Application Form .

Once completed please post forms to Director, Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, National Museum of Scotland, Chambers Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1JF, by the 1st of September.

Please make sure your form is signed by your sponsors or referees and, if necessary, references are enclosed with your application. Your application will be treated in confidence and, if accepted, you will be put forward for election at the Anniversary Meeting on Saint Andrew’s Day in November. If it is not accepted you will be notified immediately.

Subscriptions are not due until you are elected. No money should be sent with the application form.

Following the Anniversary Meeting new Fellows will be contacted with full Fellowship information and payment details.
