ScARF Rock Art Workshops

During the Neolithic and Early Bronze Age, people carved and decorated thousands of natural outcrops and boulders across Scotland, like at Achnabreck in Kilmartin Glen, Argyll.

Want to explore some of these sites and discuss the future of rock art research in Scottish archaeology? The Society’s Scottish Archaeological Research (ScARF) project is running a series of free workshops which are open to everyone with an interest in rock art, not just those working in the field.

Funded by the Royal Society of Edinburgh, the first three workshops will be held in Faifley, Kirkcudbright and Culloden. Each event will involve short talks, group discussions and an interactive fieldtrip to a local rock art site, with lunch, tea and coffee provided.

5th April 2025 – Faifley, West Dumbartonshire

26th April 2025 – Kirkcudbright, Dumfries and Galloway

17th May 2025 – Culloden, Highlands

Head to ScARF’s Eventbrite page for more information and to book your place, or get in touch with the ScARF team by emailing jennifer@socantscot.org if you have any questions.
