To celebrate the official launch of our £1.5 million fundraising campaign to raise the capital required to purchase a B-listed building, creating a national Heritage Hub for Scotland and a permanent home for the Society, we are holding a very special online evening on Sunday 25 January at 8pm GMT.
We are delighted to welcome Sally Magnusson, award-winning BBC broadcaster, writer and journalist, as host with a distinguished line-up of speakers and performers.
This special Burns Supper has been filmed across two iconic Scottish settings: Broomhall House, the historic home of the Earls of Elgin, and the National Galleries Scotland.
Pauline Mackay, Professor of Robert Burns Studies and Cultural Heritage, and Director of the Burns Centre at the University of Glasgow, will deliver the Immortal Memory, reflecting on the influence of 18th-century antiquarians on Burns’s Tam o’ Shanter. This will be followed by a unique performance of Tam o’ Shanter by one of the world’s best-known Burns impersonators, Christopher Tait.
The evening will conclude with Dougie MacLean, Scotland’s national musical treasure, in song with “Auld Lang Syne” and “Caledonia”
The programme will also include an opportunity to learn more about the campaign and how Fellows may support this important next chapter in the Society’s work.
A letter and campaign brochure will also be sent to Fellows by post.
