Call for Papers from the Scottish Society for Art History

Dear Fellows,

For those interested in the study of art in Scotland, the Scottish Society for Art History is pleased to announce its annual conference for 2026-27 entitled Art and Health, organised in partnership with the University of Aberdeen and Grampian Hospitals Art Trust. This two-day conference will take place on 4-5 February 2027, held at the University of Aberdeen.

The Scottish Society for Art History’s formal Call for Papers can be found here.

This conference will explore the relationship between art and health in Scotland, sharing current research and critical debate into the myriad relationships between art and health, past and present. The Scottish Society for Art History hopes to engage with artists, writers, curators, archivists, art historians, medical practitioners and interdisciplinary researchers.

Proposals for 20 minute papers or 10 minute case studies to be presented in person at the event are due by 5pm on Thursday 1 October 2026. Speakers will be expected to provide a PowerPoint or some form of visual accompaniment to their presentation. Proposals should be in the form of 300 to 500 word abstracts, accompanied by brief biographical details and a supporting image.

For further information about the conference, or to submit an abstract, please contact Ainize Moschynski by email at ainize.moschynski@nhs.scot.

Many thanks,
