How Does Scotland’s Heritage Hub Benefit Fellows?
Scotland’s Heritage Hub would provide many new benefits for Society Fellows.
Profit generated by renting flats and office and meeting spaces, for example, is projected to amount to over £100,000 a year and would go to the Society for its charitable purposes, helping to support the Society achieve its aims and charitable objectives for the benefit of people and heritage.
Fellows would also benefit from a bespoke physical space which would enable networking with people in many different professions with many different interests, who share a love of learning and Scotland’s past.
We would also be able to run more and better-quality events – including Fellows-only events – thanks to the free use of various spaces and cutting-edge audio-visual equipment maximised for the best quality hybrid engagement. This could include everything from regular book clubs to international conferences.
The work of the Society and the work of Fellows would also have greater prominence in the capital city. There may be opportunities to showcase Fellows’ collections or other work, for example.
Please contact us at heritagehub@socantscot.org with any ideas that would support Fellows in this new heritage space.
Will the project affect the Society’s subscription rates?
No. A financially sustainable model is being proposed, with the core principle that this will be financially beneficial for the Society. Subscription rates will continue to be affected by inflationary pressures as usual, but a more financially sustainable organisation would be able to absorb shocks like the recent inflationary hikes and cost-of-living crisis more easily.
