Heritage Hub Champions
Become one of 1,000 Heritage Hub Champions and help make a big difference through a small monthly gift.
For the cost of a few cups of coffee a month, you can help write the next chapter of Scotland’s story.
The Society of Antiquaries of Scotland is Scotland’s oldest heritage charity and learned society. Founded in 1780 and incorporated by Royal Charter in 1783, we have spent nearly 250 years shaping how Scotland’s history is researched, preserved and shared.
Now, we are creating a bold new future: Scotland’s first national heritage hub, an independent gateway to connect people, the sector, knowledge, research and global communities, and to keep Scotland’s heritage alive for generations to come.
With exhibition areas, meeting places, digital portals for anyone wishing to explore Scotland and their roots, and more, it would become somewhere to start your journey—both physically and digitally—as well as a launchpad for further exploration across Scotland.
Located immediately adjacent to the National Museum of Scotland in central Edinburgh, the B-listed property we wish to acquire holds special architectural and historic significance, standing on ground that has witnessed more than five centuries of Scottish history. However, the Society has a time-limited opportunity to purchase the building before it goes to commercial market.
If 1,000 people become Heritage Hub Champions and donate £20 a month (or approximately $27 USD, depending on exchange rates), together we can raise £240,000 annually to support the heritage hub campaign and help sustain the hub’s work for years to come. For UK supporters, Gift Aid can boost your donation by 25% at no extra cost.
As a Heritage Hub Champion, your support will be recognised in this historic campaign. You will be:
- Named in a special commemorative volume of the Proceedings of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, marking the Society’s 250th anniversary
- Included on the Digital Honour Roll within the heritage hub
- Included on the online Honour Page on the Society’s website
