Rebecca has a background in medieval history with an interest in the economic and social history of this period. She undertook a PhD (2009) on medieval mortality and life expectancy at the University of Winchester, using archives and records from medieval colleges at Winchester and Oxford.

Following a British Academy Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the Cambridge Group for the History of Population and Social Structure, Rebecca returned to Winchester as a Senior Lecturer in Late Medieval History 2014-2020.

Having moved to Edinburgh in 2017, and taken a career break for family following Covid, Rebecca is delighted to have joined the ReACH team in August 2026 to again pursue her passion for church history and heritage.

Favourite heritage: Any church (especially a medieval one), Neolithic Orkney, and the lighthouses of Scotland
