Scottish Archaeological Research Framework Project Officer

The Society of Antiquaries of Scotland is seeking an exceptional candidate for the post of ScARF Project Officer. The post will help deliver the Society’s role within Aim 2 of Scotland’s Archaeology Strategy. The successful candidate will assist the ScARF Project Manager with the development and updating of the Scottish Archaeological Research Framework. Work will include helping to co-ordinate projects to create and publish new regional research frameworks as well as updating existing frameworks. The role will also build on the success of the recent ScARF Museums project to help encourage and build capacity for research on archaeological collections in museums.

 Position Title: ScARF Project Officer

Reporting to: ScARF Project Manager (Helen Spencer)

Starting salary: £23,409 to £26,946 per annum  pro rata depending on experience, plus a 10% pension contribution, flexible working, childcare voucher scheme available.

Hours: Part time, 15 hours per week. This is a fixed term position until the end of March 2022.

Holidays: 38 days per year pro rata, roughly equating to 15 days

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and interest in archaeological research into Scotland’s past, as well as an understanding of the role of research frameworks. They will also have knowledge of the wider heritage sector in Scotland. They will be able to manage and prioritise a varied workload, with an eye for detail. They will also be able to write engaging content for newsletters and websites. The post holder will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with a variety of stakeholders.  This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate wishing to develop or broaden a career in Scottish archaeology.
