ANNIVERSARY MEETING LOCATION AND TIMING
Please note the change in venue and timing of the Anniversary Meeting this year.
In advance of the Anniversary Meeting, the Research Library in the National Museum of Scotland will display a collection of “treasures” from the Society’s archives for Fellows to view. Items from the archives will be displayed from 14:00 until 17:45 in the Research Library on level 3 of the Museum.
Please note that the Museum closes to the public at 17:00, so if you intend to stay beyond then, please contact the library (e-mail library@nms.ac.uk, tele. 0131 247 4137) as they will have to inform security of the names of any Fellows in the building after it officially closes.
DATA PROTECTION
From 25 May 2018 Data Protection in the UK will be governed by the European Union (EU) General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). This will require the Society to demonstrate it has an appropriate legal basis for holding and processing any personal data. To comply with the new GDPR legislative requirements the Society will operate under section 6(1)(f) where our capture and use of personal data is considered necessary for the purposes of legitimate interests pursued by the controller (the Society) or a third party, except where such interests are overridden by the interests, rights or freedoms of the data subject. We will update our Privacy Policy on our website to be clear about what we use personal data for and how we might capture and process it, and a version of this will be available from the Society offices in advance of May 2018.
In short, this will include holding and processing personal data for the purposes of servicing you as a Fellow of the Society and continuing the range of activity that we currently conduct as an independent heritage charity in Scotland with a global membership, including any projects that we may run. We will contact you in advance to ensure we have consent for uses that we consider might be tangential to this aim.
