Dear Fellows,

I’m pleased to invite you to take part in a Society-funded fieldwork project at St Monan’s Saltworks, Fife. The project aims to better understand Fife’s industrial past by exploring traces of the area’s historic salt-making and coal mining industries.

We will undertake geophysical survey and excavation from 18-23 August 2026 and welcome anyone interested in volunteering. The fieldwork will take place from 9am-4pm each day and lunch will be provided for volunteers.

Please email me at b.saunders@wessexarch.co.uk if you have any questions or to book your place now.

Best wishes,

Ben Saunders FSAScot
