Joanne has worked in the third sector since 2018 across environmental and children’s charities, working in finance administration and data monitoring roles. She joined the Society in 2026 as Finance and Operations Officer.

Alongside her role, she is working towards an AAT Diploma in Accountancy and is studying part time for a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Management. She also holds a BSc (Hons) in Design and Innovation.

Favourite heritage: ‘Having worked in the Officers’ Mess at Edinburgh Castle, it holds a special place for me, alongside the history and architecture of Edinburgh’s Old Town. I am especially drawn to places where nature and heritage meet. I enjoy walking in historic graveyards and other historic landscapes to discover their stories.’
