ONLINE FELLOWS’ MEETING: Stories of Scottish Clocks and Clockmaking

Within Bob Frishman’s archive of horology-related digital images – nearly 40,000 – are many he will show and discuss relating to clocks and clockmaking in Scotland. These include plates of engravings from Thomas Reid’s 1826 treatise, James Ferguson’s improvements of Ben Franklin’s three-wheel clock, dials of Scottish longcase clocks, Franklin’s 1775 letter to Lord Kames introducing Philadelphia clockmaker Edward Duffield’s son who was in Edinburgh for medical training, old photographic views of public clocks, and an 1814 painting of a domestic interior, with clock, by Sir David Wilkie.
